Description
Penetron Waterproofing at Craftworks Office Building, Abbotsford, Melbourne
The Craftworks Office Building, a nine-storey development in Abbotsford, Melbourne, stands as a beacon of eco-urban commercial design. Created by CHT Architects, the building is set to establish a unique “creative ecosystem” where tenants and the broader community can collaborate, share ideas, and foster a culture of wellbeing and sustainability. With a focus on holistic design, the Craftworks project aims to provide an environment that encourages collaboration and creative engagement while promoting a sustainable future for both its occupants and the surrounding community.
To ensure the building’s long-term structural integrity and waterproofing, Penetron’s advanced products were selected for critical areas like the basement, lift pits, and hydrostatic slabs. These areas, prone to water ingress and high moisture exposure, required the use of Penetron ADMIX, Penebar SW-55 Type A and B, and Supercure HR to deliver reliable and long-lasting protection.
Penetron’s PENETRON ADMIX was added to the concrete mix for the shotcrete walls in the basement and hydrostatic slab, providing an integral crystalline waterproofing system that ensures self-healing capabilities in case of cracks, offering permanent protection against water infiltration. PENEBAR SW-55 Type A and B waterstops were employed at construction joints to prevent water seepage in vulnerable areas. To enhance the curing process and increase the durability of the concrete, Supercure HR was applied, ensuring optimal hydration conditions during curing, resulting in stronger, more resilient concrete surfaces.
By integrating these high-performance waterproofing solutions, the Craftworks project benefits from a reliable and sustainable foundation, ensuring that the building will continue to thrive as a hub for collaboration and innovation while safeguarding its infrastructure against the challenges of water damage and wear over time.
